BPC – Treasurer’s Report - January 19, 2010 meeting
I don’t have the December bank statement yet so the financials are only to November 30, 2009.
We received our GST rebate cheque for the 2008/09 fiscal year of $296.26.
We received our notice from CRA that our charities return has been accepted as filed for 2008/09.
Spending motion:
Motion to provide Mme Gallo with $200 for expenses related to the spring musical production “Dig It”.
Motion made by: Chris Fehr
Seconded by: ____________________________

Passed: ________________________
According to my records, our book balance at the end of 2009 was (give or take $10 for service fees/interest):
Chequing $1829.61
Savings $8521.57
Our chequing account has decreased significantly due to expenses related to the upgrades to the playground.
Currently we have paid for:
Evergreen Plans $2252.25
St J-A School Division (benches/tables) 4612.99
Paterson Construction (installation) 1312.50
Total $8177.74
We have no current outstanding liabilities, beyond the monthly milk bill. Also, Pat has not handed in her expense claim for the Christmas corsages yet. However, we do have outstanding promised amounts per the September minutes:
$600 Staff appreciation
$500 Festival du Voyageur
$250 Grad festivities (K and grade 5)
$100 Xmas Flowers (Pat!!!)
$250 Various thankyous
$ 50 Charity of grade 5 choice
$200 Spring concert (assuming it is approved)
$1950 Total promised funds
Therefore, after a suggested $1000 operating balance and removal of the total promised funds amount, we can safely say for grant application purposes that we have raised $15,578.92 for the playground to date. This amount includes money already spent as noted above.
Given past performance, I expect the amount raised will increase by the end of the year.
As you are probably aware, the school division discourages the use of a savings account since all funds raised are to be spent on school related activities and items.
We need to determine the best time to transfer the funds from the savings to the chequing and closing the savings account. If we are expecting more playground (or any other large) expenses in the near future we should consider doing this now. If we aren’t expecting to have any more of these types of expenses until after the grant money starts coming in, perhaps we should leave it until a later time so that the grant money can earn interest until we need to start writing the cheques. Cindy may have some input from her previous experience.
